A Proverb for the Day (11:7)
May 5th, 2009“When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish, And the hope of strong men perishes” (Proverbs 11:7 NASU). The wicked tend to expect many things out of life. They expect to be able to enjoy their accomplishments; they expect to rise above others in this life; they expect to have power and wealth. They have planned out their life and what they want from it. Death, however, ends all of their plans and all of their expectations. There is no amount of power or money that enables the wicked to escape death. They may hope in life, but the grave will end any hope they have. We need to live in such a way that our plans do not end at the grave. Only the righteous can hope for the life to come.
