A Proverb for the Day 10:31-32
April 22nd, 2009“The mouth of the righteous flows with wisdom, But the perverted tongue will be cut out. The lips of the righteous bring forth what is acceptable, But the mouth of the wicked what is perverted” (Proverbs 10:31-32 NASU). The words we speak and use are going to reflect our inner nature. If we are constantly harming others with our words, yelling, and using foul language, we need to take a close look at ourselves. Something is wrong. When we strive for righteousness it will reflect itself in every aspect of our lives including our speech. If this isn’t happening, an examination and refocusing of our life is necessary. We want to have righteous speech because it is acceptable to others. Most importantly, it is acceptable to God who we want to please. Wicked speech, however, brings reproach, disgrace, and punishment from others.
