A Proverb for the Day 10:29
March 26th, 2009“The way of the Lord is a stronghold to the upright, But ruin to the workers of iniquity” (Proverbs 10:29 NASU). Everyone is going to be affected by the Lord’s way. We can run to God’s word and find a place of protection, refuge, and safety, or we can turn against God’s word and find a place of ruin. The path of righteousness is the path of wisdom, because the righteous can live their lives with confidence and boldness since they do not have to fear being discovered, caught, or punished (cf. Proverbs 10:9, 10:24, Romans 13:1-5).
This also applies to our spiritual lives. In Isaiah 55:10-11, we are given a picture of God’s word going out and God says it does not return without accomplishing its purpose. God’s word gives us the way of life, but it will also judge us (John 12:48). It is either going to be your salvation or your ruin, depending upon how you respond to it.

Jesus said that the truth would set us free and it does. When we live by the truth, we have nothing to hide and it’s a feeling of great safety and security. When we live our life according to God’s word, our way is pure (Ps 119:9) and we can live without regret. When each moment is lived to bring God glory, there is no cause for regret.
