A Proverb for the Day 10:28
March 25th, 2009“The hope of the righteous is gladness, But the expectation of the wicked perishes” (Proverbs 10:28 NASU). In the Bible, Hope = Desire + Expectation. The righteous hope in the promises of God They don’t just have a wishful desire or a “wouldn’t it be great if” attitude. They are firmly expecting God to fulfill His promises. This brings gladness.
The wicked expect to have good things as well. They often think they will get away with their lifestyle. Without God, people will try to get away with as much as they can (i.e., stealing, murder, rape, etc.). Their expectation, however, perishes. Things will not turn out the way they expected.
