A Proverb for the Day 10:27
March 24th, 2009“The fear of the Lord prolongs life, But the years of the wicked will be shortened” (Proverbs 10:27 NASU). How does the fear of the Lord prolong life? The fear of the Lord causes one to hate evil, pride, and arrogance all of which can shorten one’s life span (Proverbs 8:13). The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life—it brings a blessing from God and helps one avoid the snares of death (Proverbs 14:27). The fear of the Lord instructs one in wise living which has health benefits in and of itself (Proverbs 15:33). The fear of the Lord leads us to a better life.
