A Proverb for the Day 10:19

February 26th, 2009 by Jeremy Sprouse

“When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise” (Proverbs 10:19 NASU). Sooner or later we are bound to say something that will offend or hurt another. The more we speak the more opportunity we have to slip with our tongues. If we learn to restrain our lips and use good discretion, however, we can avoid offending and hurting the majority of the time. If you think before you speak, you are less likely to let words slip out of your mouth you will later regret. If on the other hand, we are overly fond of talking and let words spill out of our mouths, we will continually say foolish things that will offend and hurt others.
