A Proverb for the Day 10:17
February 24th, 2009“He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray” (Proverbs 10:17 NASU). This verse tells us one way we know if we are on the path or righteousness or the path of wickedness (cf. Proverbs 10:16)—are you heeding wisdom or ignoring it? The focus here is not on whether we have opportunities to hear instructions on wisdom (just open your Bible to have an opportunity). Instead, the focus is on what we are going to do with those opportunities. Many refuse to listen from the start. Others begin following the instructions, but somewhere along the lines it slips from their minds and their lives. Both of these paths lead to falling away. We must not only look for opportunities to hear wisdom’s instructions, but to apply them to our lives, and follow them the rest of our lives.
