A Proverb for the Day 10:14

February 19th, 2009 by Jeremy Sprouse

“Wise men store up knowledge, But with the mouth of the foolish, ruin is at hand” (Proverbs 10:14 NASU). A wise person doesn’t have to spout their knowledge all the time. Those who are wise value knowledge and keep it for an appropriate moment. The wise know the right time, place, and person to share their wisdom. A fool doesn’t save knowledge. A fool’s mouth flaps trying to appear wise, but the fool really doesn’t understand. They are always too busy talking to really understand or learn anything. Half-truths, misapplied knowledge, and plain foolish advice will get them and others into trouble. We need to be listeners who store up knowledge for an appropriate time to use it.
